A small town which is situated in the Rathnapura district in Sabaragamuwa province called Rakwana is a major centre of Ceylon tea plantations industry. In addition Rakwana is somewhat popular for gem resources too.

According to the census carried out in 2010, population in Rakwana is about 10500. Rakwana which acts as one of the major gateways for the famous Sinharaja Forest reserve is located at an elevation of 464 m, north of Sinharaja Mountains, on the A17 highway and is 17 km from Madampe on the way to Galle.

Relax, clear your mind and rest for a few hours during the daytime in Rakwana. Though Sri Lanka is tiny, it's got buckets of nature, history and culture all just waiting you to explore.
