AROUND THE GALLE




 Galle Fort
Location = In the bay of galle on the south west coast of sri lanka.

History = It was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese with granite stones and corals.

Specialities = It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage. It is old more than 431 years. According to the UNESCO world heritage site, it is named as word cultural heritage. It's official name was old town of galle. You can only enter galle fort from the main gate.  From there you can experience  shopping streets,  churches, attractive coastal area,galle park etc. (Chuches =All Saint's church, Dutch Reformed church)

If you travel sri lanka, you must travel galle fort absolutely bcz it was very attractive place   recommended by both locals and foreigners. Accommodation facilities are present.

Jungle beach
Jungle beach is a small isolated beach close to Galle and Unawatuna Beach in Sri Lanka.

The first part of the beach, when entering the bay is the most crowded ,from there you can visit hotels and research in jungle beach. Jungle beach is however far less crowded than the main Unawatuna Beach.

This is very peaceful and quite little beach with Great swimming.

The galle Lighthouse
The galle Lighthouse or ponte de galle light as it was also known, was the very first light station to built in sri lanka.

In 1848 the Lighthouse was built by British, to ensure the safe arrival of their ships at the galle harbour.

Made of=prism lens of glass
But this Lighthouse was destroyed in 1934.

The current Lighthouse structure was built in 1939 with height of 26.5m.
