AROUND THE GALLE

 Galle Fort Location = In the bay of galle on the south west coast of sri lanka. click here History = It was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese with granite stones and corals. tourist attractions Specialities = It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage. It is old more than 431 years. According to the UNESCO world heritage site, it is named as word cultural heritage. It's official name was old town of galle. Rakwana

Rakwana  A small town which is situated in the Rathnapura district in Sabaragamuwa province called Rakwana is a major centre of Ceylon tea plantations industry. In addition Rakwana is somewhat popular for gem resources too. According to the census carried out in 2010, population in Rakwana is about 10500. Rakwana which acts as one of the major gateways for the famous Sinharaja Forest reserve is located at an elevation of 464 m, north of Sinharaja Mountains, on the A17 highway and is 17 km from Madampe on the way to Galle. Relax, clear your mind and rest for a few hours during the daytime in Rakwana. Sacred City of Kandy

*The charming old city of Kandy is located in the central part of Sri Lanka. *It is the second-largest city of the island and also the capital of the Central Province. *It was the last capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka. *Historical records suggest that Kandy was first established by the Vikramabahu III (1357–1374 AD), who was the monarch of the Kingdom of Gampola, north of the present city, and named Senkadagalapura at the time. Travel World *Kandy is the home of the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world and was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1988. *The city is located in between multiple mountain ranges including the Knuckles mountain range and the Hanthana Mountain Range, giving the city an elevation of 500 metres (1,600 ft) above sea level. *With Kandy located in the centre of the island and in a high elevation, the city has a relatively wetter and cooler temperature
